   In his famous speech in Berlin in 1987, Ronald Reagan implored Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. A couple of years later, the Russian president not only obliged, he lifted the Iron Curtain from all of Eastern Europe but only after the United States and the West promised not to expand NATO "one inch eastward".

   In 1994, President Bill Clinton broke that promise and now NATO has expanded to Russia in Latvia and Estonia with only Belarus, Finland and Ukraine remaining neutral on the Russian border.    So much for the difference between the war mongering Republicans and the peace loving Democrats. And there's a good reason there isn't any.

     Industry in eastern Ukraine is depressed and behind the times with its market mainly in Russia but it still belongs to the Ukrainian workers.   The biggest money maker is the American "Defense Industry". Since 2014, the industry has received 2.7 billion American tax dollars for Ukraine alone.    And of course we wouldn't want the poor Ukrainian people to once again be victimized by the Soviet communist empire. I mean the Russian communist empire that is no longer communist and now run by filthy rich oligarchs. They must be set free by American Democracy. I mean by the American empire that is no longer democratic and now run by filthy rich .... never mind.

   So why are we racing toward war? Do we want a world where we have nuclear missiles in Cuba again? China taking advantage of the conflict and occupying Taiwan? A Russian nuclear fleet surrounding Alaska? Mutual Assured Destruction? Isn't an impending Climate Catastrophe enough? What would make us so blind as to not see impending Nuclear Armageddon?

   It's not the money is it? Annihilation of the human race and most life on earth just for a little more money? Nah. No way.

   Well, okay, maybe. But must we be subjected to the clown horror movie/High Noon shit show? Are the Democrats and the Biden administration, in lieu of the dismal failure of their domestic agenda and the Republicans in lieu of the dismal failure of their coup d'etat marching down main street, hands hovering above holsters in an attempt to keep the voters with them in the upcoming midterm elections? The grinning clowns of the media are foaming blood at the mouth. The gloom and doom voices of reporters and announcers scoff at Russia's claim it is pulling back forces while grimly bleating warnings of false flag operations and flashing maps of Ukraine crisscrossed with ominous black arrows of Russia's imminent paths of murderous invasion and merciless destruction. There definitely is a sickening parallel to the Joseph McCarthy rhetoric during the 2016 primaries when Republican congressmen, operatives and commentators sounding like bourbon sopped preachers warned of the creeping Socialist, Communist menace while their Democratic counterparts, wearing red faced, spittle spewing scowls ordered the electorate to vote for Hillary as they pounded tables with clenched fists warning of what Hell would happen if Bernie were the nominee.    You would think that the trouncing of the glowering, dyed blond fire hydrant by the glowering, dyed blond deep fried chicken might have knocked some sense into all the gibbering monkeys racing frantically in their hamster wheels at the feet of their freeze dried oligarch masters. But it didn't and it never will because there is no sense. There is no plan. There are no Democrats and Republicans. There is only a wobbly pile of Rube Goldberg machines jittering and shaking in perpetual motion until they collapse in a stinking heap and Mother Earth tries something new.
